CMAP: CHICAGO METROPOLITAN AGENCY FOR PLANNING
|
|
In September, 2006, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP)
took over as a consolidation of the Northeastern Illinois Planning Commission (NIPC)
and the Chicago Area Transportation Study. Apparently the Illinois
Legislature intended to bring regional comprehensive planning
functions under a single authority, in hopes of eliminating interagency rivalries and conflicts.
For those of us who have been used to working with one or more of the old agencies these many years, we will have to acquaint ourselves with some new staff. We will have to learn our way around the new agency. RETURN TO: Useful News Index RETURN TO: Web Site COPYRIGHT 2007 |
Formation of the new agency is an historic milestone
in the history of planning in the Chicago. We will have to wait to see what
actual impact the new agency will have upon local government autonomy,
property rights and development patterns in the region. Information about CMAP can be found on its relatively new website at: Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning NOTHING CONTAINED IN THIS ARTICLE IS LEGAL ADVICE: IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER |
